On September 4, 2019, Porsche unveiled a car that people may not of been expecting from them. An electric car. It’s their first electric car ever and they’re calling it the Taycan. They have released it in two separate high-performance versions: a 670 horsepower Taycan Turbo and a 751 horsepower Taycan Turbo S.
Although these new cars will be called “Turbo” they surprisingly won’t have any turbochargers, which is weird beings almost every car nowadays has a turbo in it. But they’re doing this because they wanted the vehicle to be powered solely by electricity and turbos are used to boost the power of gasoline engines only. The only reason that they are using the name “Turbo” is so they can distinguish the different high-performance versions of their new vehicle.

Now you’re probably thinking to yourself right now, “What would something like this cost me?” Well for the low price of $185,000, you could have yourself Porsche’s first electric Turbo S Sedan. Too much out of your budget? Well your in luck because the Turbo is even cheaper at $151,000! With all jokes aside, they did mention that they will be releasing other versions that have less speed and power but at a much more affordable cost and will also be offering them in other types: crossover, SUV and the Taycan Cross Turismo. These will be offered late next year!
